This World No Tobacco Day, Congress are taking it to the streets – well Araluen Park at least, for a Colour Smash Fun Run and Walk!
Inspired by the idea of replacing smoke from cigarettes in the air with a rainbow of colours, the Congress Health promotion team are building on their previous fun run/walk successes and hosting this family-friendly event to bring attention to the community health issue of smoking.
“We all know that smoking is bad for you, but we want people to know what choices they can make to help themselves and their families avoid harm from tobacco” said Senior Tobacco Action Worker, Glenn Clarke.
“For example, if you smoke in your car or home, your kids and others will be inhaling your smoke and residue. You can take a simple step and choose not to smoke inside.
“Unfortunately, around 49% of our mob in Alice Springs still smoke on a daily basis and this choice doesn’t just impact them, but their families as well.
“We want the community to know that support to stop smoking is here, and the rewards are good for your health and for your wallet too.”
