Alcohol Policy and Alcohol related harm in Alice Springs

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress is a strong advocate for addressing the harms caused by alcohol in Central Australia. We are particularly concerned about the link between the availability of alcohol and gendered violence.

We have been closely following the effects of the regulations on the availability of alcohol introduced by the Northern Territory Government in January and February 2023.

In the interests of contributing to an evidence-informed response to the issue, below are summaries of analysis we have carried out on the latest available Emergency Department numbers, crime statistics and alcohol consumption data.
