Parenting Under Pressure (PUP)

The Parenting Under Pressure (PUP) is the framework that the Congress Family Support Service is based on.

It acknowledges the unique needs and resources of each family. This starts with a shared understanding of a family’s current concerns, strengths and areas of difficulty.

It combines all areas of life and how they influence a person’s development, both parent and child. This includes parenting values and expectations, complemented by the parents developing an understanding of child development e.g. physical, behavioural, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Animations to help families

These videos are used as practical tools by our Family Support Service to help support discussion and understanding of areas that can impact on parenting – emotional regulation, emotional availability and nurturing.

These animations have been co-designed by the Congress Family Support Service, the Parents under Pressure program developers based at Griffith University, Healing Circle Psychology, Darwin and iTalk Studios, Alice Springs and are in English, Eastern Arrernte and Pitjantjatjara.
