COMMIT Program

The COMMIT Program is a NT Government high intensity supervision program that is run by the Congress Social Emotional and Wellbeing Team (SEWB). It is aimed at reducing both incarceration and recidivism rates by keeping high risk offenders in the community under strict supervision.

The program aims to achieve behavioural change through personal responsibility and accountability promotion. It includes a consistently applied and timely mechanism for dealing with non-compliance.

Who can access the program?

Participation in the COMMIT Program may be recommended at either sentencing or a breach hearing. The Court may order a COMMIT assessment at its own request or at the request of the DPP or defence counsel.
