Congress is proud to announce the expansion of the Congress Clinic network with our new clinic commencing operation in the Northside Shopping Centre on Monday 10 September 2018.
The new clinic is building on the success of what we have learned which is – bigger is not better when it comes to quality health care. The recently added clinics at Sadadeen and Larapinta have now been evaluated, and it is clear that smaller multidisciplinary teams, providing services to a service population of less than 2000 people do deliver greater continuity of care, improved access and improved chronic disease outcomes.
The Northside Clinic is part of a plan by the Congress Board of Directors that identified the need to position new clinics closer to where clients live to promote greater self-reliance and easier access.
“Providing a smaller clinic closer to our clients is an exciting development and builds on the success of our Larapinta and Sadadeen clinics that opened in 2016” Congress Chief Executive Officer, Donna Ah Chee said.
“The Northside clinic will provide multidisciplinary primary health care services to Aboriginal clients living in the north side of Alice Springs – from Trucking Yards, Charles Creek to Warlpiri camp and areas in between. The clinic will offer Doctors, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Nurses, podiatry, a dietician, a diabetes educator, care coordination and social and emotional wellbeing services embedded into the clinic. It will also provide advocacy and other support to Aboriginal families in the Northside area” Ms Ah Chee continued.
The clinic will cater for nearly 2000 clients living in the area, with expectations that this number will grow.
“The new clinic – featuring nine consult rooms, a double treatment room and two allied health treatment rooms – represents continued investment in quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal people” said Ms Ah Chee.
Clients and Aboriginal residents living in north side of town and the wider community will have an opportunity to explore the new clinic ahead of its opening with the Clinic Open Day on Saturday 8 September.
The Open Day will be from 10am and 12pm and will give the public an opportunity to tour the clinic and become familiar with the layout and services offered.
Congress Northside Clinic will then be open to provide care to clients from Wednesday 12 September.
