Term of Office

The term of office for Executive Board members is five years. Half the board retire at 3 year term, to ensure fresh ideas and skills are brought to the board.  All vacancies are advertised locally and appointments are based on selection criteria. 
The Board elects members to the following positions:

  1. Chair
  2. Treasurer
  3. Secretary

Of the five board members, where possible, one youth member will be elected.  Additionally, two representatives from Lhere Artepe or Native Title Holders, also sit on the board. 

 

Roles & Responsibilities

The Executive Board manages the affairs of Congress through the CEO, in accordance with its constitution and any resolutions made at any General Meeting or Special General Meeting.

 

Lhere Artepe - Native Title Body

Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation was formed in 2002 following the Federal Court decision that Native Title was recognised to exist within the Municipality of Alice Springs.

A Native Title Holder is determined to be those people who are descended from the original Central Arrernte people of Mparntwe, Antulye and Iripme estate groups and who are recognised by the relevant traditional owners and custodians as having rights and interests in relation to the estate groups.
