Term of Office

The term of office of Congress elected Cabinet members is three years. Elections for Cabinet occur at the Annual General Meeting which is held within 5 months from the end of the financial year.

The Annual General Meeting elects Congress members to the following positions:

  1. President
  2. Vice President
  3. Treasurer
  4. Secretary
  5. Seven Cabinet Members

and accepts the nominations of Lhere Artepe members to Cabinet if it is the end of the third year of a representitive's term.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Cabinet manages the business and affairs of Congress in accordance with it's Constitution and any resolutions made at a General Meeting or Special General Meeting

Lhere Artepe - Native Title Body

Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation was formed in 2002 following the Federal Court decision that Native Title was recognised to exist within the Municipality of Alice Springs.

A Native Title Holder is determined to be those people who are decended from the original Central Arrente inhabitants of Mparntwe, Antulye and Iripme estate groups and who are recognised by the relevant traditional owners and custodians as having rights and interests in relation to the estate groups.
