Alukura

Description

Congress Alukura is a women’s health and maternal and child health care centre developed in the 1980’s to address the concerns of Aboriginal women in Central Australia.

Services include the provision of culturally appropriate antenatal, birthing, postnatal and women’s health care through our Maternity Service and Women’s Health Clinic.

We provide sexual health education to young women aged 12 to 20 through group sessions in schools, youth organisations, town camps, remote communities and at Alukura.  We can also provide individual sessions.

Congress Alukura includes the new Australian Nurse Family Partnership Program, which provides intensive home visitations.  The program supports mums and their babies until the child is aged two years.

Alukura runs preventative ‘Healthy Kids Clinics’ focusing on child health checks and immunisations.

Congress Alukura employs a full-time General Practitioner, Midwives, Women’s Health Nurse, Aboriginal Liaison Officer, Educators, Traditional Grandmothers and administrative support staff.

Nanny Pickle is a proud supporter of Congress Alukura through the donation of infant clothing.  Nanny Pickle believes that raising awareness of indigenous health care is a pathway to a happy Nation.
